Quoth the Muse

Quoth the Muse was created to be a safe space for musicians to learn the craft of songwriting. We believe that songwriting is a deeply personal practice, and we respect the vulnerability that comes with sharing songs. We also believe that there are basic skills and strategies for songwriting that writers can employ to make art that they love and are proud of. Our mission is to help others refine their skills and potential.

Quoth the Muse is a reference to Edgar Allan Poe’s beloved poem “The Raven”. We’re all chasing our inner muses, hoping to channel their brief visits upon our chamber doors.

A Note from Alayna Halgat

Hello! I am the founder and primary coach at Quoth the Muse. I have 10 years of songwriting experience, beginning in college as a student at the University of Georgia, scratching out songs when I should have been taking notes in class.

I moved to Los Angeles after school, getting involved in the local music scene, collaborating with other artists, and working with various producers. I even toured with a local goth band up the West Coast! I love all genres, but have a special love for pop, rock, film scores, and goth music. I now live in Atlanta, GA and I decided to start Quoth the Muse to help other songwriters as I know how delicate the process of sharing can be.

I am a spooky lady that loves all things gothic and haunted - but you don’t have to for us to work together :) I look forward to meeting you!
